The section »Art and Media« brings together disciplines that are working at the intersection of media theory, media criticism, cultural/media literacy and artistic media praxis. This encompasses the historical and systematic analysis of theatrical, literary and cinematic forms of constructing mediality from aesthetic, poetic and performative perspectives. Special attention is paid to new media constructions that can be understood to express a constantly updated theatricalization of a society which is being staged »digitally«. This section strives to integrate artistic activities (such as those in the Department of Applied Theater Studies at the JLU) and media-theoretical or cultural-theoretical forms of reflection.
